| I just bought a used AK and went shooting and it started jamming the more it heated up the worse it got! Took it apart and cleaned it real good oiled it still same prob the more I shoot it the more it jams! Changrd mags. still same problem.Where should i start to look? The round comming out of the mag seems to be getting stuck side was ? Ill take a pic and post it . |
| Check the piston; is it loose where it is mounted to the carrier? It should have movement. They are supposed to be pinned and be loose so slight alignment problems and carbon buildup still allows free movement. Some folks welded the pistons to the carriers and they function but piston is slowed and rounds do not feed properly. All 4 of my AK's have pistons that really flop around and all are 100% function. Who made your AK?.....................Mike |

What ammo you using? Try some FMJ. These AK's are not meant for HP's without a mod or lots of break in. Mod: www.jobrelatedstuff.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=51&t=100186 |

Looks like the magazine catch is allowing the magazine to sit too low. What's happening is, the rear of the magazine is sitting too low, and the bolt is over-riding the cartridge instead of stripping it out of the magazine and chambering it. Try firing the rifle while pulling the magazine to the rear so the rear end tips upward. You may need to replace the magazine catch with one that will hold the mag higher. Apparently, this is a sometimes problem with the Romanian rifles. |
Is that happening mid mag or on chambering 1st round. Easiest fix is to send it back to Century. |
| While a good-fitting magazine will certainly help things work properly, there is one more thing to check: Weak magazine springs will cause this same problem. A weak mag spring cannot push the rounds up quickly enough for the bolt to get behind the case rim, and the bolt ends up digging into the case body just as in your pic. I'll bet your new magazine has a stronger spring than the ones that were jamming the rifle. Trust me, this is a BTDT deal for me... |
Good point, might want to take apart some of the other mags that didn't work to see what's inside them. I've found cosmoline and chicken feathers in some of mine. |
