How much is a NIB early 90's MAK-90 worth?

Between $400 and $500 at most gunshows.  That is in stock condition.  Legal conversions with new stock, handguard and all compliant parts will bring $500 to $600.

I hope 400-500 is a joke? I bought 3 at 325SHIPPED 2 weeks ago. $400 is INSANE you realize in the late 90s these weere still only bringin $149 DURING the AWB.

Actually, retail on those was about $189 in the early 90s.  As soon as they were banned from import, the price jumped immediately to $250 and has gone up since then.  Fast forward to today, I will take any MAK-90 for $350 over a comparably priced Romanian WASR-10.

I paid 350 for mine in 93. I was living in Cali though.

I bought one in like new condition today for $350.  It is a Norinco and the importer was ACC/Intrac.  Came with cleaning kit, green bottle and 3 five round mags, all in a styrofoam box.

I paid $450 for a NIB a couple days ago.  Seems to be some amount of local price variation, though I believe I paid a premium price.  The owner let me pull the stock off before purchase to ensure that it was not a slant cut receiver.

I have noticed they have increased in value since AWB expired.  I think a lot of people didn't realize the 89 ban still applied and they were waiting for evil feature Polytechs to show up again.  When they didnt, people preferred a MAK90 to a WASR.

The cheapest I ever saw them preban was $135 as the large Houston show in 1993.  They spiked to $500+ after the ban was first enacted and then settled down to $350 or so.  Recent ones I see all for for $400+ and this is in Arizona where guns are aplenty...

What's the price difference between milled and stamped?

I have one of the milled receiver MAK-90s and have been considering either selling it to buy a stamped receiver AK or biting the bullet and getting one of the replacement sets from Ironwood Designs.

I see Maks all the time in the $400 range and most of these have some kind of cosmetic issue.  Just payed $499 for a like new with perfect original bluing and was glad to find it (I'm talking square cut).  Maks usually have some kind of cosmetic issue i.e; thin bluing, blotchy bluing, rust.  Believe it or not I have purchased 3 NIB, in bag, examples off the internet in the past year and ended up selling them locally because the finishes were all screwed up.

I agree.  Most that I've seen in the $350 -400 range have surface rust, canted front sights, or some other issue.  Not to say that there are better deals out there, but I was happy to pay $450 for a pristine straight cut one.

In terms of performance and quality. How would you guys rate the MAK-90. Reason why I ask is I am looking to purchase another AK and the 400 to 500 range is what I'm looking at. Thanks.

I would never pay over $400.00 for one in original thumbhole configuration. They are a good rifle but you have to take into account the cost of converting it to pistol grip configuration legally.

Not an issue for me.
I was able to open up the thumbhole stock on one of my MAK90s, I custom fit it to
my hand and not only do I NOT feel the need to replace the stock, I am able to retain
the superior ChiCom trigger.

$400+/- is a good deal on an excellent AK.
