I just picked up my first AK,and I love it.I have fired a crapload of variants, but never had my very own.Needless to say I have been researching it trying to learn everything I can.
It is marked "AK47S 7.62x39MM" and "MADE IN CHINA" below that. No BBL markings or stamped importer rollmark on the reciever.I was reading about SN's,and I read as long as it doesn't start with a 90,91,92 or something..Mine starts with 87.Does this indicate date of manufacture ? The bayo numbers match the last 4 of the rifle..Fires excellent and I'm really happy with it.
Can anyone tell me anything else ?
ETA: Try not to notice my bunny foo foo boots,it gets cold here in MA

Thanks..
Nothing on the BBL,the importer mark is near the magwell,on the underside.Marked "ARMSCO,Boylston MA." that was just etched on.
