Found and Purchased a milled MAK-91 today. Looked to be in near new condition. I own several stamped AK variants so this is my first milled. The rifle doesnt have a bayonet lug or a muzzle brake. Thumb hole stock.

Was the MAK-90 the AK version and the MAK-91 a RPK type rifle. It does have a long heavy barrel (.685? dia.).

If you own one could let me know your opinion.

When it gets out of mandatory 7 day cool down period i'll post pictures.

Check the Chinese Rifles page of my web pages for info on the milled receiver MAK-90 and MAK-91 rifles.

The milled receiver MAK-90 is a copy of the original AK-47. But the MAK-91 is not really a Chinese semi auto version of the RPK. But it does have just about all the features of a RPK except it has a milled receiver instead of the stamped receiver of a RPK. China never made the copy of the model RPK rifle but used the Type 67 a RPD copy. The closest the Chinese came to making a RPK is the Type 81 rifle.

You got a good deal on a really good rifle. I have had one for many years and it shoots really good off the bipod. While the Chinese thumbhole stock sucks a Choate Draganov stock really improves the comfort of shooting it.

I love my mak-91.....I would think that it is the Rpk model but the barrel is only a 19incher.....P.S I hate you ...I paid $450

Yes, as others have said, you got a great deal.  I sold mine several years ago for over $500.  I like the heat-treated hammer on these. The "National Match" thing is kind of a marketing ploy but they are generally more accurate than a basic stamped AK.

You can't forget the 86s-7, an rpk clone. That is strange as I don't think that I've ever seen any mention of this weapon on this site.  They are a nice but few in numbers clone.Mad Max son of Madtechcool

I didn't leave it out. The 86s-7 is a not a clone but a RPK-ish looking type rifle made just for the US commerical firearms market.

Note the stock, receiver, lower handguard, and front trunion are not the same as a RPK. But the one  feature that screams it is not a RPK is the bipod is attached in front of the front sight not behind it like a RPK.
