All NHM-90 rifles were imported and sold with a thumbhole stock. The 5.56 NHM-90 rifles use the Norinco mags. Some of the NHM-90 rifles like some of the NHM-91 rifles had a rivet in the receiver between the mag catch and mag well to prevent the use of any mag that didn't have a slot milled in the rear tang on the mag. The rivet head would fit into the slot so the mag would lock into the rifle. This rivet serves not other function and is not required by any law so it can be removed so any mag will fit in the rifle.
