| I'm looking at a Poly Tech "Hunter" at a local gunshop. This has the monte carlo politically correct stock and no pistol grip and long fore end. Doe anyone know if it would be possible to replace this stuff with other furniture ( .e. folding stock, pistol grip, short forend) ? |

All Hunter rifles were made in the North Building of the state owned factory #386 in Shenzhen,China. All Chinese made Hunter rifles I have seen were marked Norinco or not marked as to the exporter but were all stamped with the symbol "386 in a oval" which denotes mfg. in factory #386. For info on the Hunter rifles click on the link for the "Chinese Rifles" page of my web pages and scroll down to the info. mywebpages.comcast.net/jfreeman246/index.htm Due to the Hunter rifles being a copy of the Valmet M-88 Hunter rifle, well not a exact copy but a copy none the less. The receiver is unique to them so any other stock will not fit without exstencive modification to the stock or the receiver . The same goes for the handguard also. |
Well, yes and no. The receiver is exactly the same shape (if you don't count the rear portion) as a Galil. So how do you not count the rear portion? Cut it off and weld a Galil receiver rear end onto it. The Galil receiver portions can be had--if he's still got 'em--from a guy in Canada. Contact Ontgun1@ yahoo.com to inquire. Once the Galil rear end is welded in place, you have a receiver that you can hang Galil parts on! Press off the front sight and gas block and replace them with a Galil gas block and front sight group. (Be sure and add a front handguard holder before you put the gas block back in place on the barrel.) You now have a Galil in 7.62 X 39. PM me with your email address and I'll send you a picture of what mine looks like. Wyn |
