My mak-90 was origanally pre-ban-made post -(last minute)before import I'm guessing because it is a slant cut receiver with sealed back, holes cut for an underfolder that are covered by riveted steel plates ,rear tang welded on for thumbhole stock and muzzle threads are ground down on the barrel. With the sunset of the AWB, I'd like to put an underfolder back on (with parts count in mind)My question is will any underfolder work for this convesion and where in the hell can I find one now that everybody's sold out?hinking.gif THANKS

No offense, but it's very difficult to sort out your post. If you're asking what I think you're asking-- how to put a folder on a MAK-90-- I don't think you can without violating 922(r). Imported rifles are not subject to the AWB of '94; the import rules were in place in 1991, and they don't allow import of folding-stock rifles, so you're better off with one of the newer (American-parts-compliant) rifles. Am I right, guys, or am I confused too?

it's legal once you add the correct amount of US  parts, then it's considered US made and no longer "imported"

No offence taken DTM, I was just saying that it was once an underfolder/made thumbhole stock for import and just wanted to know if I need a chinese folder or will others install just fine? I also don't know where to get one at the moment.(looking for help). I beleive changing the FCG, gas piston, and handguards will make this a legal conversion. Please correct me if this is wrong. Thanks for any feed

that's correct, you need 5 parts without a muzzle brake and 6 with.

what if the break is US made?

you'd still need 6 parts including it, doesn't make any sense but that's how it's written.

I meant brake( I spelled it wrong).  I would like to hear some opinions of wich 6 parts most would change out in this case. THANKS

If it's a MAK-90, it has no threads (looks like you said that in your description).

Hence, you only need five parts, as your rifle only has 15 definable parts per ATF.

The 5 EASIEST would be Hammer, Trigger, Disconnector, Pistol Grip and Handguards.

If you want to add a brake/hider, then pin on or weld on a US-made variant, as you're adding a 16th part.

You could also swap the gas piston, but that's not the easiest thing to do for home builders.

The five easiest for me were the gas piston, magazinne floor plate, magazine follwer, hand gaurds(top and bottom count as 1 part), and pistol grip. I ended up adding a Romanian side folder. The gas piston was not hard at all. Not sure I'd recommend changing the fire control group. My FCG was and still is sweet. Most Mak90's FCG are among the sweetist. From what I've heard most are sorry that the shanged it. Although some are happy with the switch. Do you like your trigger pull? If so I'd skip changing the FCG. BTW I started off wanting to put an underfolder on my Mak90 but scraped it for the side folder. Not sure it's worth it IMO.
