I'm thinking of getting one of these. Any major issues I should be aware of, thing to look for? Thanks.

My brother has one. We have converted it to a no-ban rifle, and it is awesome. Rifle probably has several thousand rounds thru it, and most were bump fired. It will dump a 40rd magazine fast! The magazines are'nt that hard to find, and we never had a single problem with it. The handguards sure get hot.

I have one and it is one of the most accurate iron sighted rifles I have. The first order would be to get yourself a KVAR stock kit and throw away the thumbhole stock. You would also have to add a couple more american made parts to make it legal, like a fire control group and gas piston, but it would be worth it.

No, put the required U.S. parts in it and get the original buttstock from Keng's/Polytechparts or an Ironwood set. I've got one and though I haven't shot it in awhile it is nice.

Thanks guys. Any ideas on a fair price to pay for one of these?

There is one on GunsAmerica for $475.00. I don't know if that is a good price or not, but you don't see these for sale often. I paid $275.00 for mine, but that was several years ago.

I picked one up back in '98, and it is one of my favorite rifles now-- accurate and light-recoiling-- a nice cross of both platforms. I put mine into a J.A.Ciener Dragunov-type stock (because back then no one was making US parts) and it feels a whole lot like a Valmet. I don't miss the "original" styling at all.
