I painted the SKS with a few cans of Rustoleum CAMO colors Tan and Green. Used  pine needles and leaves from the yard.
I ordered some Moly Resin in OD,Tan, and Matte Black..
Just don't know if I can bring myself to spray an NHM, or if I should just park, blue, or black oxide it as original. What do you guys think? Moly the NHM? Camo? Matte Black? OD green receiver covor and barrel and the rest black?
Any advice on this would be huge! I've been wrestling with this for weeks!!

I was just curious as to how you would get a cheek weld with that optic mounted so high?

its from a company called Capco, it was on the rifle when I got it. It was set up like you see but without the paint.

truthfully I don't know?? That whole receiver cover "snafu" is the only thing I don't like. It was right when I had picked it up and of course with no research done, I find the first NC Star crap and grab  it.

I would like to grab one of those Texas Weapon Systems dog leg mounts that screws to the rear sight. I'm still pretty green, however, I have been researching like a madman, so over time i'll work out the kinks...

FYI- If you were talking about the SKS, it comes with this tear drop shaped cheek rest that I just didn't have on in the pic. It is part of the set with buttpad and hand grip...(They say "Sniper style") hahahha, SKS-Sniper...shouldn't be said together...

I have since stripped the SKS down for a coat of Moly...But the longer I own it, the more I find myself wanting it parked or blues like it originally was..When I got it the finish was toast!

I've had this 91 forever, shoots like the day I got it.

Edit to add it doesn't seem to suffer from the off the pod "barrel droop" when hot like some I have seen, as well as coming stock with a spring loaded barrel nut.

How were you able to mount an optic?

Here's mine, I went more traditional with it.

Added the standard AK side rail retained with a couple of hex screws.
Works perfectly with the PKA sight. I shoot rifles left handed, and it's offset is perfect.

I likey! You know its funny, when you first get an AK (me at least), you cant wait to tacticool it out...yet down tge road, and several hundred dollars later, I end up liking original almost better??
The thing is..I just dont like the clubfoot stock RPK look. I know I should because its what I have, but I really like the standard length better?
I have been thinking about possibly trading for an M70 Yugo with the bulged trunnion, does anyone think that that would be a good trade?
My NHM 91 is all numbers matching, in great shape. And I would most likely Moly Resin it back to Black and put factory wood back on. (The AK is FDE now)

Input??

As soon as I saw it, I knew that I wanted to make it an RPK clone, although lately I've been toying with the idea of adding an optics rail and some PSL furniture.
