I am looking for a Polytech Legend Bayonet in a Burgundy finish and oil tin if you have one. How can I tell if one is a real or legitimate Legend Bayonet? There are too many similar type bayo's out there. Anything specifically distinguish a Legend from the rest? Also if you have one willing to let go please let me know.
Thank you Chris |

Quoted:
Blade shape is different; handle has wooden scales (side grip panels); the cotton canvas belt hanger has a "snap" closure on the retainer; just to name a couple. A type 1 bayo, and as mentioned above and should not say "made in china" which some do. GB sometimes has them sometimes for a price. mjbell |

The Legends have no markings. |

But I think we know what you mean. The bayonets for most of the milled receiver rifles go by a few nomenclatures but the most common are "First Model" or "First Type" bayonets. Some have "CHINA" stamped near the blade and crossguard; some have it stamped on the backside of the handle; some don't have any stamp at all. But all were made for the commercial export market for the Polytech Legend rifles and none were military-issue. China had a "First Model" bayonet they made in a few variations for their milled receiver Type 56 rifles in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Those bayonets are ultra-rare to find as most were destroyed and recycled. |
