| First off, I know nothing about AKs. Thats why I am here. A friend of a friend has a preban Norinco, 5 magazines and 600-700 rounds of ammo for sell. How do I tell if it is a preban? What am I looking for? What is the ballpark value? My friend said he looked at it today and the rifle looks great to him. I don't need an ak but his price seems relatively cheap and I don't pass up deals. I just want to make sure I am getting what he says it is. Thanks. |
| The markings will tell you if its pre ban or not. If it says 56S, 56S1 then it is pre ban. If it says NHM, Sporter, SP, MAK and it does not have a bayonet lug then it is a post ban. All chicom's are now technically pre bans since they are now all banned from import. It would be really difficult to give you a price estimate without seeing pictures and knowing the exact configuration like a fixed stock vs underfolder or 56S vs a converted MAK. Try to get us some additional info or even pics and we can give you a better idea of value. If its a true 56S in excellent condition you are looking at $1200-$2000 range. |
