A local dealer has a Norinco MAK-90 with the thumbhole stock and no muzzle device with a stamped receiver for $500 something. First, it appears to have, what I guess you would call a slanted receiver in the rear. Do I need to remove the stock to tell if its a straight receiver or not? If it is slanted is there a way to convert it to a standard buttstock and is it even worth it to convert? I have an SGL-21 and don't really need another AK, but I thought $500ish bucks was a deal for a Chinese AK. Please advise as I know nothing about these.

That is a decent price.

Yes the stock has to come off to be sure.

Ironwood Designs sells furniture that is US made (922r compliant) for all the Chinese MAK90 variants.

I genuinely regret selling my converted MAK90. I thought the threaded muzzle and bayonet lug were important to me, but in the end the converted MAK90 w/o those was perfect.
