Its official. I have joined your ranks and can now pepper you all with newbie questions about my newly acquired MAK.
Thanks to everyone who supplied me with info on what to look for. Scored a unfired (until today)NIB MAK 90 from a fellow board member who happened to be local and a pretty cool guy to boot.
The difference in quality between this and most of the other AKs i have seen or used is very noticeable. The only thing i do not like about it is the butthole stock, which is one of the most uncomfortable things i have ever held, and will soon be replaced.

Is this the only website to buy stocks for MAK? Already looked at ironwood anything else out there?

IWD is the only one that makes aftermarket stocks specifically for MAKs, but most stocks can be made to work with a little fitting.  The Chicom receivers are thicker and the extra thickness is toward the inside, so the tenon portion of Euro stocks will have to be reduced to fit.  The Chicom's rear tang is also longer so the inlet portion at the forward top of the stock may have to be modified a bit.  The mounting screws are spaced differently as well, so if using a used Euro stock the rearmost hole wil have to be filled and redrilled.  Plastic stocks like Tapco and K-Var will work with similar modifications and the ACE internal mounting block will slide right in with no mods.

AFAIK the only one making a buttstock for the angle cut MAKs is IWD.  Others will work like on an uncut model but there will be a visible gap where the stock doesn't fit up to the receiver's angle.  The IWD design stocks amde for the angle cut MAKs have an angle that matches.  Functionally it doesn't matter, really.  It's strictly an aesthetic issue.

There are a few places that offer the original Poly furniture.

Yep, Tapco does offer wood stocks now, but they're not MAK  specific so the things I mentioned above would apply.  Nothing for angle cuts and only one style of HG and PG.  If you like them though they would work.  Not exactly my cup of tea but they are another option for thoose that like them.

9 out of 10 purists agree, they hate rails. I have heard it adds some heft, but despite how it looks the ultimak set is surprisingly very lightweight. Still experimenting with the AFG.
