| I own a milled receiver MAK90 with a thumbhole stock. I want to make it more authenthic AK in looks. Can I add a byonet lug to this gun? What other changes will I have to make to remove the stock and put something better on it? |

You'll have to press the gas block off if you want to replace the bayonet lug. It's a PITA but not impossible. If you don't want to refinish the barrel, you probably won't want to press off the gas block. I'm currently in the process of de-banning an NHM-90. It would be great to have a Chicom pig sticker on it, but compared to all the other work you can do to de-ban an AK, the bayonet lug is the most work. I'm leaving it well enough alone for now. |
| No - unless it's stamped PolyTech on the weapon. I have the same rifle that you do, and it's stamped 386. Between the mag well and lower hand guard there is a Norinco stamp. You may or may not have that, there are so many variations of these rifles I don't know how anyone keeps up with it. |
| Keep in mind you still have to remove the rear front sight pin and replace it with a longer one. The clamp-on bayonet has a shroud that covers the rear pin hole, so you remove the old pin, slip on the bayonet, and run a longer pin through the shroud and sight. Basically, the front sight is sandwiched between the bayonet shroud. You then clamp the bottom of the bayonet assembly to the top (that has the shroud). Very easy to do and it makes it very sturdy. I also replaced the allen head bolts that came with the bayonet with a different set (allen head pan style) and ground off excess threads so they would be flush. I'll see if I can get a closeup. |

Nice conversion. |

Where can I find stock replacements? I have looked around some and the milled receiver, slant cut I understand instead of flat, is making it hard. Ironwooddesigns |
