How hard would it be to replace my Mak-90 barrel with a Polytech barrel? It shoots fine but I want the Cleaning rod/BL.

If you are in NY, you CANNOT do that.

You rifle has to remain in post-ban config due to your state level AWB.

OR buy a pre-ban norinco or polytech

All Norinco's are "Pre-ban" as per Penal law 265, none were imported post 5/94 which makes all manufactured and possessed on 9/13/94. It is 922 compliant with the required parts count.

You really don't have to replace the barrel at all. I just changed out the Front Sight Block with a Bulgarian one. I got mine at this place. http://www.armsofamerica.com/ak47barrelsparts/barrels.html   . It's your only option to be done cheap and easy. If you replace the barrel that would require you to the pin the sight block and  gas block and also you have to relief  cut the barrel at the breech for the bolt face and then head space. Plus you will need a press to take the barrel off and put back on = $$$

Note all MAK 90's fall under the 1989 assault weapon ban= 922r compliant. Some states require mag rnd limitation and registration or just outright Ban like California (Nazifornia)
