I am sort of new to Ak's I only have one Vector underfolder and had a ??. I bought this Norinco MAC 90 rifle new in the box this morning at a Farm Auction for $300 with 3 10rd mags. I don't know how old the rilfe is or what it may be worth? It also does not have a thread barrel I noticed that. Any clue what market price is for one of these I figured it was a good buy I may be wrong. I bought a new Ak sidefolder on gunbroker last night not knowing I was going to buy this Mac 90 today now I can't afford lunch next two weeks I will be packing my lunch to work I guess it's worth it in the long run.

Cool I was guessing maybe $400-$500 from what research I did after getting home this afternoon. When I bought it I had no clue figured I would go as high as $350 but the only one other person bid on the rifle and he stopped at $275 so it was mine at $300. The Mac 90 has a smoother action, better sights and overall finish compared to my Vector underfolder. My Vector is nice also I love it and it shoots great I had to give $600 new for it. The only thing I don't like about the Mac 90 is the thumbhole stock grip is sort of thick for my small hands. I guess it legal to use 30rd mags with the Mac-90 and I am still learning all these Ak laws?

Is it hard to replace the stocks? I guess you would need to add US parts to be sure to be legal.

Like MrMP says, check and see if the receiver is cut at an angle at the back.  To do so, take off the receiver cover, unscrew the buttstock from the tang, and then unscrew the pistol grip screw.  The butthole stock should then come off.

To see what type of receiver you have, check this page:

The "straight" receiver is generally considered more desireable.

No, it's not hard to replace the stock.  However, there are a couple of caveats:

1) straight or angle receiver -> with an angle receiver, you're limited to custom stocks, like those sold by Ironwood Designs.
2) Chi-com AK receivers are slightly thicker than Euro ones.  This means major fitting for Euro AK surplus, which means lots of cutting/filing/sanding.
3) Keep in mind US parts count.

An easy way to de-ban a US-compliant MAK would be the following:

1) buy a buttstock from Ironwood Designs (1 part)
2) install a US-made black plastic pistol grip (1 part)
3) install a Tapco G2 trigger group (3 parts)

You could also buy a Polytech buttstock from polytechparts.com and replace something like the gas piston or magazine follower or floorplate.  Just make sure your parts count is right.

All of that stuff is not hard at all and will make your rifle soooooo much more aesthetically pleasing and less politically correct.

Is it hard to replace the trigger group? I have been looking around for instructions.

I just replaced my FCG group with a Tapco G2. The directions that came with it were good. I had to have a helper hold the retainer wire down with a screwdriver to get the last pin in. I think the trigger works great.
