Will a K-Var stock fit on a mak-90

Yes, but you must sand it down to fit. The MAKs have a thicker receiver than the Euro AKs, which the K-Var stocks are based on.

I just unbanned a Mak-90 and am in the process of unbanning a NHM-91 and a Poly-tech sporter.  You will have to file down the butstock and the lower handguard to make them fit.  The pistol grip will fit without any fitting and the upper handgauard might need a little fitting.  Hope this helps.

How much sanding does it take?  Just using a dremel?  I want to put on a KVAR plum stock set for the MAK-90 I just bought, it is straight.

I used a file and it took a while to make it fit.  The stock is made for a receiver that is 1mm thick and the chinese receivers are 1.6mm thick, so about .3mm on each part of the butstock(mostly from the sides but also the top and bottom).  The lower handguard is much easier just hold the handgaurd to the front of the receiver and mark it where it will fit and file it to that spot.

K-Var makes the stocks just a hair bigger even for the 1mm receivers so you can remove material for the tightest fit possible. My MAK took quite a bit of filing. I recomend starting with a rasp or you will be working forever.
