Just got a TGI AMD65. Disassembled clean and oil.  Insert steel magazine and tried chambering a few rounds.  Every 2-3 try the bolt keep getting stuck close, have to hit it to get it to open and eject the round.  Sometimes it would get stuck in the rear position have to slam it to get it close.

Does it need a breaking in period? It’s safe to shoot, was worry about overpressure if the bolt jam in the forward position.  Thank

Hand cycling is different than actually firing the rifle. Shoot it and see if you have problems. Haven't heard of any problems like you describe.

My WASR was having the same problem.  I spent 1 night hand racking the BC 1000 times and it runs like a top now.  Sometimes I think the BC rubs on the new hammer and needs some breaking in.  Try that.

The whole gun is refinished (painted) including the moving parts. As already posted, do vigorous hand-cycling (NO AMMO). Rack it fast and let it slam. Oil it up. Shoot it! Most AKs will 'hang up' on the trigger if you ease the bolt forward - this means nothing, and do not trust it hold the bolt back while you stick your fingers down in the chamber area. That could hurt! Best accuracy I've seen is with Yugo M67, but be advised it is corrosive, so you'll have to use something water-based to wash the entire gun if you use it.

Went to range and fire a few hundreds rounds, no problem whatsoever.
