Hi to all,
Just joined the site and also a first time AK owner. I just purchased a SA-85M in great condition. I am also in the process of giving it a pre-ban makeover. Does anyone know where I can get a East German gas block for it? APEX doesn't have any. I can't even find any with a google search. thanks.

Good luck finding an East German block. I found one last year when APEX had all those German parts. The EG block is the perfect match for the SA85.
You can get by with a Romanian one, but you probably have to clean it up. The Hungarian machining is super smooth so the Romak block may look funny with the machining swirls etc. You could also try Polish. They are good quality and probably better than Romak. These are Romanian Gun Broker but they look decent. Your best bet maybe to try gunbroker. Put an ad in the "parts wanted" section of the EE. You may get lucky. |

It just so happens I purchased one of those Romy ones last night at GB. The price was right and I thought I would take a gamble since they appeared to have a decent finish. My only concern was that it may be worn or pitted internally. Hoping for the best, we shall see. Will continue to look for the EG version though. Do you know if the gas blocks are chrome lined also?
