Without getting into a discussion about why anyone would want a Slide Fire stock when they can bumpfire on their own, I'm wondering what I'd need to do to one of my AMD-65s to get a SlideFire stock to work.  I contacted the manufacturer, and they told me that "it should work on almost any stamped receiver AK-47 or AK-74 equipped with the standard stock and trunnion system, but is not compatible with milled receivers or under fold stocks." - so, I'd need to remove the existing trunion and side-folding stock, and replace it with a standard stock, correct?

Is this a one-way trip, or could I revert to the original side-folder and trunion?

Thanks!

Nope. Kinda SOL on this one. The trunnion pattern is very different from a normal AKM trunnion. It would be a one-way trip, as you suggest.

I sent an email to SlideFire and asked about modifying the gun to accommodate a SlideFire stock - I got some this guidance back from the manufacturer - "Some of the side fold stocks will work with the SSAK-47, but not the under folds. As long as the receiver will still accept a standard wood style stock I feel like it will work." - my understanding is that the AMD-65 will NOT accept a standard wood stock - correct?

Is there any modification available (from Krebs, etc.) that'll allow the gun to accept a standard wood stock?

Thanks!

I too have an underfolder, mine's from Arsenal.

You're going to have to get another AK. If you look in the ass end of your receiver you'll see that there's a plate welded in there preventing you from using a normal stock. Also leaving a hole in the side of the receiver from where you removed the side folder. You also are missing the tang which is what you'd use to secude said stock to the rifle.

Sorry man.

Thanks guys - I have two AMD-65s, so keeping one and trading the other (NIB, never been fired) for a different kind of AK would be OK - any suggestions on a comparable type of AK that'd be roughly equivalent in value to an AMD-65?  Something with a fixed stock, obviously . . .

Thanks!

Thanks Turboguy1, but, LOL, we have a different ifda of "comparable value" - I paid $399 for my AMD-65 - those two guns are $800 + - maybe I'll pick up a WASR - they seem to be the low end price point these days as far as an AK-47 that has a standard stock.

Happy holidays all!

With those arsenals, you're getting literally three times the gun that you would otherwise. They are *VERY* worth the price of admission. Check one out for proof. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

"With those arsenals, you're getting literally three times the gun that you would otherwise" - guess I phrased my response wrong - I was looking for a gun that I could use with the SlideFire device that was roughly equivalent to the Hundarian side-folder in quality and price - I paid $399 for each of my sidefolders - the aresnals each looked to be a lot more than than.  Thanks!
