Are the AMD's offered by SOG century or FEG's

Call them and ask to be sure - 1-800-944-4867

That looks like a Century build to me, because the front sight is right behind the muzzle break.  From SOG's website:

The TGI builds I have seen have the sight closer to the gas block:

Most of the AMD-65s I have been seeing lately are built by TGI on FEG receivers.  They are originally single stack and are opened up to take double stack mags.

I did but no one picks up the phone.  Do you know where I can find a TGI built AMD....hopefully not too far off price wise from the Century build.

TGI builds can be found at Centerfire Systems for $399

I think a lot of people have bought them from Centerfire.  They (TGI) are just like Century in that they can be hit or miss on quality, but they will take it back and fix/replace it if there are any problems.

My TGI AMD-65's receiver cover rubs on the bolt carrier and is most likely the cause of some feeding issues I am having.  I emailed TGI and they told me to send it in for repair, so it at least sounds like they will stand by their products.

If you had to do it all over again would you purchase the FEG or would you go with the Century.  I really want one I just can't decide which one...  I can get the Century for $395 shipped and transferred or I could go with the FEG for $445 shipped and transferred.

My FFL bought a bunch of the TGI's last year and all of his customers were pretty pleased with them.

It's a done deal pulled the trigger on the TGI, I'll keep my fingers crossed, I might even sacrifice a goat to the gun gods, so I get a good one.

I would want the FEG receiver and original barrel (evidenced by the sight base 1/4" from the gas block and a barrel extension). The FEG receivers are SA2000Ms made in Hungary and left over after FEG got out of the gun business. The steel is very tough. I wanted to drill mine for a sling stud just in front of the rear trunion, and I picked out a brand new Nitrided bit. I thought something was wrong with it at first, but the steel is just tough. I think the ones with FEG receivers and barrels will be worth more later and you probably will enjoy it more now, even though it will have the barrel extension on the end. The trick there is to find a Tapco one-piece extension brake that is made exactly like the original brake and change it out - don't forget to get it welded right away or you'll be illegal.

What do you have to do with the FEG models to make them legal with surplus com block mags?

I think you could change the gas piston, and front hand guard or pistol grips.  You could also change one of the previous and all of the followers or floor plates of your mags...

I would double check this though.

Cool––because I am getting the FEG version this time, and was hoping by changing HG and mag parts I'd be GTG!

Does anybody know where I can get a rail for the dustcover, so that I can mount my aimpoint

I called SOG today and yesterday––I called after 430 PM Eastern and the shop guys were gone.  Called back today AM, and they were able to confirm that they have the TN guns version with FEG receiver now, and they are on sale for $359.95 this month on the 9th––tommorrow––but I ordered one today and they gave me the same deal....

They answered the phone fairly promptly both days.

I personally wouldn't do with a dust cover mount since they don't hold zero very well.

How do you feel about the ultimak rail that replace the gas tube??  They make one for the AMD.

Yeah that is probably the way I am going.  I wanted to keep the Aimpoint closer to me but I guess I'll have to learn to get used to the AK all my other rifles ar AR's

This is relevant to my interests. I ordered one yesterday from Centerfire. Should be here Monday or Tuesday.
