it just arrived from J&G sales. Went to my FFL shop to pick it up and opened it up in the shop. First impressions didn't appear to be anything special, the plastic handgrips looked butt-ugly and I was a little dissappointed at first glance. I brought it home and played around with it some, lubed it up good and took her to the range today and my attitude started to change. I was very impressed when shooting it. I wasn;t really trying for accuracy so I can't speak to that as i was just testing it with a bunch of different mags. Had no failures of any kind. The two most noticeable things about this gun was its light weight and light recoil. It feels very light in my hands and coupled with the front grip, handles great. best handling AK I've shot. The recoil felt very low in comparison to my arsenal and it was a total ball of fun. Needless to say, it grew on me after getting it to the range and all of my AK friends that shot it were as impressed as me. At $400, you can't go wrong. Thinking about ordering another one because IMO it's a hell of a deal.
What are you guys wrapping on these plastic grips? They look awful to me but more importantly would become very slippery if they came in to contact with moisture or any other liquid. Would some skateboard tape or something else work? I'd like some of the rubberized material they make decal grips from but not sure if they sell it in sheets. |
| I picked mine up yesterday on the way to work, and it sounds about like yours. My grips were kind of scratched up, but I have a set of Ironwood grips waiting for it when I get home. I got them from TGI for about $45 I think. They should help it out in the looks department a whole lot... can't wait to get it out and shoot it. |

I'm just going to use mine for a trunk gun so I will probably just wrap teh grips with something instead of spending too much on the grips. You got a link to those grips? |

I just found out I will need to get a couple of longer bolts to put these on with, I think TGI sells those too. Might go by Lowe's or somewhere today and see what I can find. |

I'm going to go by Fastenall tomorrow and see if they have any like that, if not I'll be ordering some from Cope's. |

I used the UTG handguards and they work fine for me. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r191/ar15nutz/IMG_0194.jpg What did you use for that finish? |
| Another option for grip wrap is called AGRIP. I've used it on two of my glocks for years and love it. It does away with the slipperiness, wet or dry, but conforms perfectly to compound curves like found of grips, and is much more pleasant to hold onto than skateboard tape. Looks good to me, too. |
