In addition to the front sling loop made into the lower hand guard retainer, The AMD-65 has a sling loop on the receiver near the rear trunion. Here's mine that I installed. The real one uses a standard Hungarian sling loop with the ears flattened inside the receiver.

I don't know where or when I got it - just been in a parts drwer. It's a standard 1" sling loop with a machine screw. I located the drill hole based on the location of the real sling loop I found on the web. I double-checked to make sure it was clear of the bolt, drilled the hole and mounted it with a nut and washer on the inside.

Another route you can take (and one that looks more original) is to cut a slit in the same place where that bolt-on one is, and install this:

You insert the tab into the slit, then fold the tabs over against the inside of the receiver (like a "T").  Too easy.

To make the slit, you just drill two pilot holes in the receiver where you want the ENDs of the slit to be, then use your dremel with a cut-off wheel to cut out the space in-between. Coat the exposed metal and insert the tab...

I know that weaponeer.net often has OEM style mounts but this also looks pretty nice too.

I would have gone that route but did not find that KVAR sling loop - I looked for one like that for a couple weeks but was searching for a Hungarian or AMD loop. The drawings for the exact location and dimensions of the slot are available online. I posted a link to it on one of these Hungarian threads. In fact, you can use any AK sling loop. The ones for the buttstock just have longer ears, but once it's installed you don't see them. I'm now stuck with mine, although on second thought I guess I could use the circular hole as the center of the slot and do it the right way. The slot is almost as wide as my drill hole. I think maybe I will do that. A few AMDs have the sling loop which was transferred from the parts kit. It all depends on whether the parts kit had the cut-off back end of the receiver or not.
