i hacked the original stock mounting HW off and welded a flat plate on it and drilled a hole . then i cut the tube stock off leaving about 3/4" stub which i threaded. then i put it thru the hole on the freshly modified stock and put a nut and locktite on it. it tries to fold but the corner of the stock hits the corner of the receiver. the tantal brake is tac-welded on also to maintain barrel length.

Did you have to open up the bore of the Tantal brake to 30 cal or was it already large enough?

I just couldn't stand shooting it with the folder stock and even after the riser, I found it difficult to get a quick target acquisition.

Yes, I know, it looks like , but it's a shooter now.

ok, i know it's not perfect but it works very well for me. i traded the one w/ the original stock off w/ the plum stuff on it so i had to take the extension and the AIMR flash hider  off and go w/ the tantal style on this one. added the tantal FSB also so i could run a bayo. the hinge that i built is no show-piece but it works flawless and the original button still releases the stock to fold.

I think he is still using the AMD locking mechanism.

the original mechanism just locks it open, no lock for folded position. just a really tight roll pin. i only fold it to transport it not to fire, so it's no issue for me. it makes a world of difference with comfort and cheek weld.

these AMD's are awsome rifles. plus w/ the new adaptors the options are getting better. thought of maybe picking up another in the future and getting the stock adaptor so i can go w/ the GALIL look next time.

It seems pointless to me to remove the original fore grip and other parts and install a different kind of fore grip and/or hand guards.

Refinish was done by local gunsmith rebluing and I am going to be doing the furniture fairly soon. Kit was one of the 99 specials from Sportsmans Guide years ago.
