I got an AMD65 from Century. One thing I never got around to is a rear sling attachment for it.

Did Century forget about them? Where can I get one?

Hi,

I got a TGI one thru J&G, and it came with a rather worn-out sling loop welded to the left side of the receiver, right above the grip.  I dremel'd it off and drilled a hole and installed a sling swivel stud with two nylock nuts.   This works a LOT better than the original because it can swivel, and also is easy to remove if needed.

Not original by any means, but functional!

Hi,

 www.jgsales.com

I was at the show in Phoenix today, and saw a number of AMD-65s there - some were Century and did not have the sling swivel, but all the TGIs did (and most were not as worn as the one I got back in June..)

There is also a difference in the barrel setup - all have a new US receiver, but the ones that retain the Hungarian barrel use a welded-on barrel extension plus the welded-on original flash hider to make 16", while the ones that put on a new US barrel just weld the flash hider on because the barrel is longer.  IMHO the original barrel is better because it's chrome-lined.

I've read a couple of reviews stating that one of the biggest complaints about the AMD-65 is that there is no rear sling swivel - Mine didn't come with one either and I hear they are a b!tch to find.

You could just get a new East German one from Kvar.  Their shipping sucks and will cost about as much as the eight dollar part but they have them.

That`ll work! Do I need anything else to mount it on the receiver?

As for the shipping I`m sure I can find a few others things to off set that....

No all you need is a slot cut into your receiver if you don't already have one.  Then you just shove it in and open up the two little metal flaps.  I actually got the original sling loop w/ my kit but in the process of opening them back up on of the flaps snapped.  So I had to weld mine in place.  A friend had the same issue.  The Hungarian ones seem more brittle than the Yugos.  The East German one being a new part I wouldn't think you should have any troubles.
