Does anyone here have one? Specifically, I want to know what the unique muzzle brake is like in terms of reduction of recoil and "noise" compared to an AK without a muzzle brake and an AK with the AK-74 type muzzle brake (a real copy, not an American made knock off).

This review Arsenal posted has sort of turned me on into buying one of these rifles, particularly the .223 model:

I'm damn stubborn when it comes to accuracy about certain things (like the muzzle brake), but I guess the Bulgarians think it's good enough to put on there over the AK-74 copy they manufacture.

Thanks!

Mao,  I do not own a SAM-7, but I do have a SLR-95 with the Bulgarian muzzle brake attached.  It is actually very effective and it's about as loud as any other AK brake I have used.  It is about as loud as my SAR-1 with the US made AK-74 brake.  My Bushmaster carbine with the mini-y brake is loud!  Way too loud!

The only thing I dont like about it is that it's a little on the ugly side, but it works just fine.

IMHO the SA M-7 is the best AK available and that includes Pre-Ban!!! I have an SA M-7 and think it is worth every penny. It's as accurate as an AK gets and that milled not stamped receiver gives it a high quality feel. I like how the brake looks!!  how effective and loud it is? I have a MAK90 and I do not think it's much if any louder. Recoil does seem a bit less on the SA M-7.

Muzzle brake is very effective, making repeat hits very easy.

Also, and I didn't say this, but when compared to a rifle without a brake, there is a significant reduction of, um, flash signature.

But I didn't say that.......

And I will also add that I believe them to be the finest over the counter AK variants ever offered, period.

Easily the quality of an IMI Galil.

When shooting the SAM-7 side-by-side with a MAK90( no muzzle brake), I don't notice any difference in recoil or noise. The MAK has a rubber buttpad, so that may be the reason for no difference in recoil.

The one thing that I did notice was the accuracy.

That day I shot the SAM-7, a MAK 90, a NHM91, and another Norinco. Using the same (WOLF) ammo in all, the SAM-7 had groups half the size of the others. Two of those had 20" barrels.

I also found it to be more accurate than a SAR-2.

Anyone who has shot it is impressed with the stock trigger, finish, accuracy, etc.

I've got an SA-M7S, and would love to help you out, but I am ashamed to say that I have never shot it in almost 1.5 years. I'm leaving it unfired just in case I have to sell it. I've been shooting my sar-1 in the meantime.
P.S. the SA-M7S sure does look good though.
