I was wondering if anyone that has one of these or any experience with them can share their thoughts? Are these good to go? Price not being an issue, would you trust one as a defense rifle?

Thanks

Do you need Bulgy mags for the SAM series?  I assumed that they would take any mil-surp AK mag/drum.  I just ordered two SAM pistols from KVAR, with the hopes of doing an SBR down the road.  Thanks!

If its a SA M7 then any Ak mag will work. If its SA M5 then I believe only Bulgarian mags will work. I'm assuming you got a 7.62 cal so you don't need to worry

Yep!  Sam 7 milled pistol.  I think one's destined to be a SBR and the other will stay as is.  I love the fact that you can ccw with 75 rounds. My friend: "Check out my piece, 15 rounds in a pistol!"  Me:  "Oh yeah, how does 75 rounds grab ya?!"

It's one of the rifles I regret not buying when I had the chance.

Is the SA M5 made entirely in Bulgaria or is the receiver made in the US?  I seem to remember KVAR ads from about 8-10 yrs ago depicting rifles in which they said the receivers were made here.

The receivers were made in the US with Bulgarian receiver blanks.
