| Did it just shoot up in value over night? People are asking $1600 now. |

Note "asking". If people say screw this, & don't pay $1600, than no. However, if mindless fools decide that just because some loonytoon went postal on a school, & a gun that sold for $1000 a week ago is now worth $1600 & pays that, then yes, it went up in value. We are our own worst enemy, & it's a shame that fellow enthusiasts would take advantage of a sad situation. GARY

Not really.
Being in the market for an AK myself, I hate the price hike, but completely understand people that want to make a quick buck. No shame in it - supply and demand. Basic rule of capitalism, the thing that made this country great. Vote with your wallet, educate others on true value of the item. But at the end of the day a great deal is a state of mind. |

As said above, everything AK went up (as well as everything "black" or semi-auto really). BUT IMO SLR-101's were under-priced in the first place, at least compared to any other milled AK going currently.
When was the last time anyone can remember seeing a Milled Pre-Ban AK for under a grand? Uh, not in years right... Shit the nearest comparison is the SA-M7 which was already $1600 and not built on a true Bulgarian receiver like a 101. I was honestly really surprised to see the 101's priced at as grand in the first place. I wish I'd bought more than the one I did buy... I said to myself "self, this is an insane deal and you will probably regret not buying at least 5 of these". I was right, and I wish I'd bought as many as I had money for at the time for $949! One of my LGS just told me they had one coming in next week for $1159 and that I could put money down to hold it if I wanted to. It hurt doing it knowing that 6 weeks ago I could have nailed another one (or 5) for a couple hundred less /ea, but what are you gonna do? I wasn't gonna piss and moan over a couple hundred more bucks when there's a real good chance there won't be any more of them anywhere near that price, or for any price at all. Milled Bulgy's are just too nice not to have a few. I've got an SA-93, SLR-95, and the SLR-101S and love them all so much! |

| I meant have you ever been able to go buy a milled AK in pre-ban configuration before for this kind of money? No, because to get one like it you would be looking at guns like Poly Tech Legends, Mitchell Yugos, etc... Not going to come close for this kind of money so I say these 101's are one he'll of a buy. |

In NORMAL times, which is definitely NOT NOW, I would pay about $799.00 for this rifle. It would be a cold day in hell before I EVER pay a thousand dollars for ANY ak-type rifle. I note that sellers were asking exactly that - $999.99 for this rifle before the latest great panic started.
I owned a SLR-101 about ten years back WHEN THEY WERE SELLING FOR $449.99 FROM FAC CORPORATION up in Minnesota. It is a very fine rifle and is well made. No question about that BUT over a thousand dollars? I don't think so. |

At $3k, I feel I should sell all 3 of my SLRs.
However, w/o knowing whether the ban will happen I think I will just hold on to them. Hopefully every gun owner are all doing what they can to stop the ban...... so I can sell my rifles and use that money to buy 9 back |
