I hope this is the right place to post this...
I was looking around for another sbr project and came across the arsenal SLR-106u pistol and wanted to find out if anyone has had a chance to convert it to an sbr yet?

Of the few threads I found on this pistol it appears that it comes with the hinge assembly attached but a sling plate is pinned in place. Provided an approved Form 1 is my possession, would adding a folding stock from KVAR be a simple swap? I'm less concered about not being able to change muzzle devices and was more interested in the ability to add a stock.

Any additional information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Correct, once you have the tax stamp completed make the appropriate receiver cuts and install the folding stock hardware.  Bingo, SBR.  I think 106u sbr rifles will be atleast 3-4 months away since the process is taking 6-7 mo at the least and they just recently were put onto the market.  Im waiting for a couple of stamps currently.

Thanks for the info. Are the receiver cuts difficult to make? I was trying the compare differences in the receiver between the rifle and pistol versions for the SLR-106 and I think I see the differences.

Based on that, would it better to start off with the rifle version or the stick with the pistol version as a starting point for a sbr project?

Thanks!

The cost between the two will be negligable if you keep the front end of the 106u pistol as is.  The difficulty between the two is the difference.  The 106ur will be much easier to sbr since all it really needs is the barrel chopped and the gas system tuned up if it doesn't run well.  Which would have to be done by a competent ak smith.  I went with the pistol for the basis of two of my sbr rifles.  But others opinions will vary.

Im in the process of SBRing my 106u pistol. I already did a 107ur sbr and thought this would be easier since the barrel was already correct. But since the barrel is a mess it has turned into a bit more work but not too bad. I had a local AK smith swap front sight gas block out(funny how kvar just happened to get some in)and cut the barrel down and crown it. I found someone else to make the cuts for the stock once I get my stamp back. Now I just need to find a 4.5 poly folder and parts. Any ideas?
