I've  converted postban AR-15's to pre-ban, removed pinned/welded brakes on ARs in the past.... but I'm not as knowledable on AKs.

On the SLR-105 I'm messing with now its a post-ban, no bayonnet lug, fixed stock and a solid / covered threads on the end of the barrel.

Do they blind pin and weld over the muzzle peice the same as on a post-ban AR?   If I find the blind pin and dremel it out, will  there be a threaded section to attach a new "pre-ban" flash hider?  The little detent pin on the front sight tower moves, the muzzle peice wouldnt budge.

Thanks

My understanding is that there are no threads on the muzzle for Post Ban rifles. Period. I could be wrong though. Mind taking a picture of the FSB so we can take a look? If it does have threads you should be able to see a small tack weld on the bottom of the FSB where the threads are capped. Just break the weld and voila, you have threads. No blind pins should be present.

No threads. Replace entire front sight block. Send it to a gunsmith to have it done right.

Thanks for the quick replies and the help in my 'weak' area of firearms knowledge

I'll just leave this one stock and a reminder of the dark ages in our modern firearms era.  Too bad its not as simple as a Dremel tool on an AR15

I converted mine a few weeks ago, swapped the FSB. It was definately different than most AR work but came out nicely.

it's not really that difficult of a job to do. Read any of the conversion threads and it will give you a good idea about how much, or little, is involved.

ETA:

The 105 is among the best 74's IMO and is completely worth the modifications.

That is what I did to all 3 of my SLR105s. AKUSA did nice work.. I also did that with my SAM5

AK USA did one of my SLR 105's and will be doing an AMD 65 here soon for me. Chris does some good work.
