I've been wanting to get a different stock lately and went to check if my receiver was cut for a tang or not and found this thing.

I was expecting to see this.

But found this.

What the hell is that? lol. Looks like a plastic plug or something. I ask because I haven't heard about this in other SA-93 rifles and I am the second owner.

Can you pop it out? Hell hit it with a screwdriver and hammer if it's plastic. Wierd...never seen one like that.

P.S. Have fun cutting for the lower tang. I've done 3 and they all 3 sucked

Edited to add: Was there an Ironwood stock on that rifle at one time?

I was tempted to pop it out but haven't got any new stock to put on it right now anyway.

Since I don't have the tang cut , I'll just get an Ironwood stock.

No Ironwood on it previously to my knowledge.  It came with a black plastic thumb hole stock.

With a little googling, I found the thumbhole stock I have.

Only MINUS that little protruding part sticking out the stock above the pistol grip. I'm guess somehow that part of the stock broke flush with the receiver. Weird. Very smooth break. I guess I answered my own question.

I bet thats it. Dont be discouraged about what I said about cutting the tang. Is it a pain? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes.
It just takes a while for a guy that has no patience.

Is that a piece of polymer in the rear of your receiver?  Will it come out easily?

I haven't taken it out but I imagine with a couple whacks with a screwdriver and hammer it should come out no problem.

So just what all is involved in adding the bottom tang to an SA-93? and just How hard is it to do for a non-machinist?
While I am at it, what all is involved in finding the correct parts to make it look like it really should, with a slant brake and cleaning rod?

Just a thought, and I may be way off base, but could you drill a small hole into the blockage and insert a screw? With a screw installed, you could yank on it with pliers or whatever? Or is it glued/otherwise secured in the whole? It would piss me off having to hammer on the reciever trying to break the plastic out. Anyway, let us know how it goes.
