| Can anyone tell me what an excellent condition SA 93 goes for?? I may be working out a trade for one and would like to get a good idea. It hasnt been debanned, still has the original thumbhole stock. Also, are there any reasons why a standard buttstock wont work?? I know some SLR 95's couldnt accept a standard milled buttstock. Even though it's a postie, it's made in Bulgaria, milled, & the original style. 45 degree gas block, not 90, vented gas tube etc. I had one & shouldn't have sold it, but a SAM7 carbine came along. While it too was a great gun, I should have kept the 93. A regular milled buttstock should fit the 93, & 95. GARY N4KVE |
| You will for sure have to drill the bottom of the back of the receiver and rivit a lower tang for the buttstock (should be available from K-var), as it will not have a lower tang the way it comes. I also recall the hole being small in the back of the rec. so you will have to grind down quite a bit of the wood that slides in there. Neither is a big deal, just letting you know what to expect. (I used to have one). I agree with above that $500 would be a nice price. If I were selling I'd hope for close to $600, but anywhere in the 500-600 range is decent IMO. |

Some, but not all, came in with the tang slot cut in the receiver. Sentinel Arms, Detroit MI was an early importer. While it might not guarantee the cut is there, the model markings are stamped in and look better than the etching which were done on later 93s and the 95.
You can see the cut from inside the receiver. There is no need to remove the stock to check if it is there, just the top cover. With the rifle I am currently examining it is quite easy to see the installed, but cut off, lower tang without even removing the guide rod and return spring. I have also seen the top tang used and a bolt with washer through the rear of the receiver attaching the stock. This is even more stable than attaching it with a lower tang. If done carefully, an internal buffer can still be used. DB PS cant estimate the current value, because although the market is soft, I would be unwilling to sell for the original retail price. |
