About six months ago, I bought a lightly used SLR-106 w/seven magazines. All mags are Bulgarian Circle 10 and, with the exception of #3 which is smoked, are black. Most were new, showing no signs of powder residue.
The first magazine fired flawlessly. The second jammed, but the more I’ve used it, the less it jams. Mags three and four have fired flawlessly. Today I took five out and it had 3 jams out of 30 shots the first go around. Then it fired 70 times with only one jam. All jams are failure to feed, with the round not going all the way up the feed ramp. I’ve checked for spurs, but there are none. There is a channel on the ramp for improved feeding and the rifle has a serial number indicating it isn’t one of the earlier models. Do these mags require a break-in period? I’ve owned/currently own about 10 AKs and never had any other AK jam, not even that poorly slapped together SAR-2. Open for suggestions. Thanks. |

What ammo? How does your feeding compare with these pics? How does your feedramp look in comparison to mine? BSW My feedramp looks similar to yours. I think mine isn't as deep or as much of an angle. Mine seems to go up a little sharper. If I remember correctly the serial number starts w/BD. I've had jams with both Winchester White Box and Brown Bear. |

Both FMJ? No JHPs? I'd probably get a RMA and send it back. It'll cost you around $40 for USPS Priority Mail insured. Could be bad rail height, bad feedramp, mag riding too low... Too many possibilities w/o getting hands on. BSW The rounds were FMJ. The crazy thing is, 3 out of the first 30 and then 70 rounds without a hiccup. It is like the magazine needs to be broken in or something. If there is a problem with the rifle, the other mags shouldn't work well. The second mag I tried, the first one to jam, I've ran 30 through it half a dozen times and I've only had one jam in the past four; most came within the first magazine I fired with it. I can see that the front lip is got the paint/blue/whatever it is worn from where the rounds were hanging up. I wonder if the front lip was a little too tall and now that it was worn down, it is working much better. I still like the rifle and glad I bought it, although I'd have a hard time passing it up if someone has an SLR-107 to trade. I do wish I'd have waited and bought the 7.62x39 caliber. |
| Maybe the mags need to just be broken in. After the jamming on the first rounds out of the magazine the other day, followed by several mags without a problem, last night I took it to the range and used the same magazine, fired 80 rounds and had no jams. I do appreciate the comments I've been getting here. Looking at the pictures of the feedramp above, I'm wondering if the modification to my ramp was done by the previous owner and not Arsenal. Mine is modifed, but it is awfully sharp of an angle. I might just send this back to Arsenal and have them do more work on the feedramp. I do trust this weapon, but am a fanatic about wanting 100% reliability above all. |

When you get the kink worked out. you will love the rifle.
Funny, Whenever I take mine to the range (my friends ranch) most of the die hard AR guys try the 106 and fall in love with it.... If you go to Youtube check out Nutnfancy and his new video about Arsenals. In the 106 section he is getting hits at 500 yards with the 106 . |
