A few years ago, I purchased an Arsenal SLR105A1. I would like to add a factory side mounted scope rail and replace the standard stock with a side-folding one similar to the folders now available through Arsenal. Who would you recommend to handle this project?

Chris at AK-USA, good luck getting ahold of him though...

"I would like to add a factory side mounted scope rail"

- fairly simple, IF you have the tools...

"and replace the standard stock with a side-folding one similar to the folders now available through Arsenal"

- NOT Simple.  Implies rear trunion replacement, receiver cutting, and probably a bit of welding to deal with the existing fixed rear trunion hole pattern.

Ditto to Chris - especially if you want to convert to a sidefolder.  This is ABSOLUTELY the artist you want.

Chris Butler or Ted Marshall to do the build...period! Parts for the folder are about impossible to find now and have gotten very $$$. No welding needed as trunnion pattern is the same but you will have to drill two additional holes for the optics plate. Parts would be at least $250 for a used sidefolder (if you can find one), optics plate, and pistol grip plate. Labor will be $300-400. I just got my 105A1 back from Ted Marshall last week and had the exact same work done to it. Email me directly and I can send you pics.

Thank you for the replies. Maybe I will just add the rail for now. It seems to be the least expensive of my options. I still have an SA93 which I want to convert to pre-ban configuration. So all my extra funds are going to that project.

AKUSA did all of that including the front brake and a total refinish last year. The gun came originally as a ban model SLR105 for $400.

It can be done if your pockets are deep enough..
