Can you guys give me a quick and dirty evaluation of the SLR95 vs the SA M7/SA M7 Classic???
I recently became aware of the SLR95's, and they kind of caught my attention since they are also milled receivers.
I was going to go after an SA M7 or M7 Classic, but I was wondering how the SLR95's compared??  This would be my first AK purchase, so I would appreciate any opinions.
 Thanks for any help....

i prefer the SLR's..you can buy 2 or 3 for the price of the SAM7 (or use to be able to).  the SLR is a fine weapon, accurate, reliable, solid as rock and worth every penny! here is a pic of two of mine that have ben converted back to original configuration.  for the money, go with the SLR...just MHO

SLR would be a hell of a lot cheaper but still I think SLR95s are now in the $900 ballpark when just 1 1/2yrs ago they could be had at $550-600 CONVERTED to pistol grip.

Oh well, bitch now and cry later, get the SLR.

What are the differences between the SLR and SA M7's???

Also, if I were to buy an SLR95 with that huge funky "thumbhole" fixed stock, can it easily be replaced with a regular fixed stock as seen above?  I mean, IF I pull the funky thumbhole stock off, and install a regular stock, will it leave behind any oddball screw holes, or anything?  OR, does the regular stock fit up perfectly without any ugly remnance of the thumbhole stocks???

Also, I have seen many of the SLR's with the funky thumbhole stocks, which also have some sort of top cover rail on the top cover itself.  Are these removeable, and if so, do they leave behind some ugly tapped screw holes as well????
As you can see, I'm trying to determine IF I can buy one of those ugly thumbhole stock SLR95's, with the top rail, and remove all that crap and have a gun that looks like the one's posted above (or to also look similar to the SA M7's as well)  ?????
 Thanks.

SA M7 uses a US milled receiver and the SLR 95 uses a true Bulgarian milled receiver.

They are some what easy to convert to pistol grip configuration. You will have to install a lower tang or I believe Ironwood designs sell a stock that doesn't need the lower tang. I don’t know what “top rail” you’re talking about, could you post a pic or a link? I’m having my SLR 95MB converted to a type III clone which I should have back soon and I will post a pic. I will post some links below about the various milled Bulgarian rifles and how to install the lower tang.

I got mine for 600 bucks about 6 months ago because the Dealers friend got arrested for beating his wife and he had to get rid of his guns by law. Unfired SLR95 still in the box, unconverted of course.
