I considering a specific flash hider for a SAM7R rifles, but it comes without a finish on it. Does anybody know (for sure) what specific finish that Arsenal is using on their current/recent production SAM7 rifles? It looks like DuraCoat HK Black, but I have a feeling that it's something else that's cheaper. ***Update*** It turns out they use some proprietary type of finish with some fancy name that I can't remember. SO...........DuraCoat HK Black sounds good to me. |

I don't know, the finish on my 106 is "washes away with Hoppes 9" black. Brake cleaner removed the remaining finish extremely easily. Thank God is was only my bolt carrier. It's funny, the black finish actually seems tough as far as sctraches go, just don't try to clean it. Does Duracoat do a better job holding up to brake cleaner after it's fully cured? |

I'm sure that DuraCoat & GuKote probably much better that what Arsenal uses. Though I hear that their US made receivers use a better finish than their imported Bulgarian receivers, like those used on the new SLR-107UR. Anyway, I understand why you need a finish to hold up to Hoppes 9, but just out of curiousity, why do you need a finish to hold up to brake cleaner? The only gun-related application I can think of for it is to strip the finish off of your handguards. |
Exactly. Cleans out the crud in a few seconds, for the thicker stuff you use a little hoppes and brush then hose it out. Go back over it with CLP and its spotless. I did notice the rifle has a good, light gray park finish under the black so duracoat would have a good surface to stick too. |
Tactical, what FH are you looking at? I'm facing the same question - I'm getting my SAM-7 setup the way I want it, too. Ideally, I'd like to have an AR-M1 stock set, AR-1 flash hider, IDF sling, and PK-AS. Since the AR-1 isn't available, I'm looking at a few other FHs as well as having an AK-74 FSB put on (as I'd most like an AK-103 type break). |
I have a Phantom FH on my SAM7R Green Goblin, which looks nice and funtions well, but a Politically Incorrect MOFO (like me) needs a Politically Incorrect FH on his rifle. Alas.....the Wolverine FH fits the bill with it's nasty sharp teeth. Next best thing to a bayonet, right? Looks kinda like a Dead Zombie Meat Tenderizer. ![]() Wolverine But I need to find another source for it than this web site, cuz $65 seems kinda high to me. Aside from the Wolverine, all I need to do is swap that urban TLR-1 tac light to an M3X Rail Grabber. Then she's ready for Red Dawn. ![]() Anywaym I hear you on the desire for the AR-M1 (SAM7A1R). I picked one up 3-4 months ago right quick, cuz I knew thay would sell out fast. Definately a collector piece. They are beautiful AS IS.

Missed the question, and only responded to the DURACRAP inquiry. ARSENAL uses ENAMEL over parkerizing on the MAJORITY of part's on their milled rifle's. |
