[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Magazine problem!

New to AK47s. Just bought one of the Romanian Ak47 WASR ones. Came with a 20 round magazine. Attempted to put the magazine in the gun; inserted front portion in then the rear. The rear tab of the magazine did not drop into the slot between the mag release and the bottom of the lower receiver. Tried several times. Seems like some machining work needs to be done. Is this common? Of course I contacted the dealer who said to bring it back and he will take a look at it. Any comments/ suggestions? Thanks.

If you are putting it in correctly and it doesn't fit, take it back. Fit problems in the mag well are common with the rifles that are imported single stack and modified in state, but to have a WASR mag not lock into the rifle if inserted properly is not as common.

There is no lower receiver on an AK.
