So my dad bought a used 7.62x39 Lancaster AK(I think AKM). Long story short, it wasn't tested for almost a year after buying it, and it doesn't work.

Every fifth or so shot fails to eject from the rifle. The casings have nicks in the rim where the ejector hit them. After measuring the ejector with a micrometer, it appears to be in spec.
The ejector is rounded, unlike my saiga. The bolt appears to have a little over .050" of clearance when it is over the ejector. It appears that the bolt is riding too high when it travels past the ejector, causing the ejector to nick the bottom portion of the casing.

Markings on the receiver indicate that it's an NDS-3, and markings on the rifle indicate that it's built from a Romanian kit.

I've tried several search queries, but none seem to be applicable.

Sadly I'm unable to post any pics because I don't have access to the rifle at this time. Any troubleshooting tips or information such as clearance specs would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think the problem comes from the ejector being rounded, it should have a hook shape to it.
You may need to re-weld, grind flat, reshape, & re-harden the ejector to get it working right, or replace the receiver.
Here is some info on how to check the ejector.(middle of page)

Thanks for the reply and the link. I'll take some more measurements, and hopefully it won't come down to welding, grinding and then heat-treating. As simple as it is on paper, that may be a job left to someone more experienced than me.
