This damn thing won't fully chamber a round. Cock it back and let it go it picks up the round in the mag perfect but doesn't have enough force to close the action 100%. Shot it and it jams 75% of the time, because of FTE.

It accepts the double stacked mags fine and I don't see any burrs or issues with the rails where the bolt and carrier slide down.. Any suggestions?

Not an expert but it could be too much play in the mag well. I was having a FTF problem, called Krebs  hoping that there was a bolt on fix for my problem. I was told to seat the mag & wiggle it w/in the chamber. If there is approximately 1/8" wiggle or more then that may be the problem. To test this run your gun while firmly holding the mag in the mag well, if it runs correctly then thats your problem & if not then it could be your mags (spring or feed lips), you may not have the innards lubed enough, spring may be bad, piston assembly may be fowled up.....
If its the mag release It was recommended to me that I send the AK off to get the mag release ground off & replaced at an estimated cost of $60-80.

Is there something physically stopping it from chambering, or is it simply just not enough umph to complete it?

I figured it out. The quad rail that was installed was put on to tight , this was causing the gas piston to get jammed up when trying to chamber a round.

I had that happen with a UTG rail
