| I have a Draco which is experiencing frequent double fires, meaning it fires two shots with 1 pull of the trigger. Today I went to the range, the first 10 rounds were 1 pull and 1 shot. Then between 11-25 rounds there were three of these double fires. I have not modified the pistol in any way, as this is the second time I've fired this gun (still less than 35 rounds thru it). Anyone have a quick fix to this? Thanks. |

Doubling with the AK is usually a sign the disconnecter needs to be adjusted so it's a little farther forward and has more engagement with the hammer with the trigger pulled.
What's happening is you may be "milking" the trigger to get more a precise trigger pull. When the hammer releases, the rifle fires and then the disconnecter catches the hammer, the slightly lesser disconnecter engagement simply allows the hammer to slip out of engagement with the disconnecter and drop again. With the trigger being pulled slowly or being "milked" the disconnecter is not held far enough forward and the hammer actually pushes the disconnecter to the rear enough to allow the hammer slip off the disconnecter and fall again. One way to prevent this is to pull the trigger more firmly and a little faster. Unless the trigger unit is simply defective in some way or doesn't fit the gun correctly, this can usually be corrected by stoning the lower front of the disconnecter "leg" so the top part that engages the hammer tilts farther forward on the trigger. This is the part of the disconnecter at the lower front that contacts the flat "shelf" on the inside front of the trigger. Unless you're sure that's what it is, and you feel competent to do this, let a gunsmith do it. |

My Tapco G2 FCG has such a crisp clean and light break, not just for an AK but any semi auto rifle I've handled, that I found that I was doubling my Draco sometimes. Also consider that the Draco, being smaller and lighter than a full size AK and having no shoulder stock jumps appreciably more under recoil too.
You might want to try a mechanical rest and a string if you can to ensure it's actually the Draco, and not you... |

a properly adjusted trigger will NEVER double, regardless of how you pull or hold the trigger. Bump firing is a dangerous defect, its only fun till you get an out of battery detonation.
The hammer should have as close to zero gap as possible to the nose of the disconnector with the trigger at rest. If it can still be made to follow, the height of the hammer shelf needs to be lowered (with a corresponding adjustment to the disconnector, as doing so will widen the gap. |
