Okay, some full-stocked AKs have a pronounced slope to the comb of the stock and others (like the Hungarian SA 85M) have the stock comb practically parallel to the centerline of the rifle]. Does anybody have a clue why they vary so much? Any thoughts?

I think it is a milled (AK47) vs stamped (AKM) thing

the top milled one looks like it has american made ironwood designs stockset.

i cant even shoot with a normal warsaw length wood ak stock. i have to sit the stock on top of my shoulder to look down the sites. it needs to be angled down way more. the top stockset would be much more comfortable to shoot.

Milled receivers have that downward slope compared to a stamped receiver. The chi-com buttstock has more slope to it which puts the sights right up there in front of your eyesight so you don't have to "crane" your neck so much to use the iron sights. Dad likes the chi-com stuff especially the buttstocks just for this purpose because his 5 discs from the skull down are deteriorated so bad that a regular buttstock hurts him so much to shoot.Mad Max son of Madtechcool
