Folks, I have a Rommie SAR1, and would like to remove the wood from the upper handguard to replace with a synthetic one.  Can someone tell me the easiest way to go about this, please?

They rotate off.  You have to grab them, hard, and twist.  Often, the wood will break when you do this.  No big deal if you're replacing it, but be careful if you want to keep it.  You may need to "break" any varnish that extends from the wood onto the metal to make it easier.
