I was thinking about putting padding on the comb of my AK-74 to get a better cheek weld when using my PK-AS-V and POSP.  Has anyone else done this?  I was thinking about this one:  Beartooth Comb Raising Kit (  http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0010018223766a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=comb+&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=comb+&noImage=0  )

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I never used that but I did use one of the recoil pads just like that on a 45/70 and it worked just fine.

If shooting your AK is hurting your check, I would recommend not pressing your cheek so hard against the stock. Rest it against the stock, rather than "press" it against the stock.

But if you're set on a cheek pad, here's another option.  I used a 1/8" CHEEK EEZ pad on the AR-10A2 rifle below. It's self-adhesive, and they come in 4 different thicknesses. But for iron sight use, 1/8 is the thickest you'd wanna go.

CHEEK  EEZ

The problem isn't that the stock hurts my cheek, it's that I want more comb height to get a better check weld when looking through a high mounted scope.

Thanks.
