I have a hammer that was not finished as well as some of my others. Right at the very back of the hammer, the last part to touch the hook (single hook BTW), there is a raised edge along that line. None of my other hammers have it - they are perfectly smooth. If I file or Dremel that edge off, will I be removing too much hardened steel? It is a barely visable line (but it can be seen, and more importantly, FELT) and it grabs the hook. End result is terrible trigger. |
| I recomend it as a simple improvement to anyone that is capable enough to dissasemble the trigger group. I like to go a step farther and polish any parts of the trigger group that makes contact with moving parts. Remove any cast lines with a file and 400 wet dry sandpaper then use a polishing compound to get the smoothest surface possible. The result is about the best trigger job you can get out of an ak. Mine are very smooth and crisp. |

Is this trigger group from KVAR, or on an Arsenal Rifle? It SOUNDS like you have an SLR106 Arsenal group - which DOES have an INTENTIONAL small "bump" on the hammer. If so? Don't remove it... SMOOTH it a bit. This can be done with a Dremmel & a Poly Polish wheel. You'll really like the results :) |

You'll see a corresponding "speed bump" on the trigger hook - this is all part of the Arsenal 2 stage trigger. My 106 trigger was also poor, out of the box.
