Good morning.  I'm looking to add a rail system to my Vector AK.  I've looked at the Command Arms system and the also the Ultimak rail system.  Command Arms about $75 top and bottom; Ultimak about $320 top and bottom.  Does anybody have any experience with either or both of these two rail systems.  Any info is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I went with the UTG Quad rail. It's very solid and tough. And before someone says it, It's not for Air Soft.

Um, does airsoft stuff work on a real firearm? Is it durable enough? Is it cheaper or more innovative?

If the answer to these questions are yes (and I am asking a serious question here, I haven't a clue) I'd say who cares if its for airsoft?

Cheers,

If you are on a budget, the Ultimak Scout Mount and TDI lower handguard is the way to go.  If you can afford all Ultimak go that route.

I have both, and the all Ultimak is the far superior way to go.

i really wanted a rail to put onto mine as well, mainly cause i wanted to use a red dot of sorts. problem is, none of the current production rails allows for a co-witness with your front site. correct me if i'm wrong. please, cause i really want one.

The AK's sights are not raised above the receiver like they are on an AR-15. Thus, a traditional cowitness is impossible. You can get close (irons in the very bottom part of the sight picture) with an Ultimak gas tube and some optics with low mounts though.

With an Aimpoint in its factory mount, on my Ultimak I can easily and fully co-witness my irons with the red dot.

I have the UltiMak and I get a lower third co-witness with both an Aimpoint and Tasco PDP3 red-dot, using the lowest mount I could find (I think it was an Aimpoint mount).

That's what I'm trying to say. I think it's physically impossible to get a full cowitness.

But I personally would like the "lower 1/3" a lot better anyway.

No co-witness. The UTG is not an Air Soft product. It is made by Leapers who does make Air soft products. I run a UTG on my Romanian AK and a UTG quad rail on my SBR AR. Both are rock solid. The UTG runs about $60-$70. I've put about 500 rounds through the AK and 700 rounds thru the AR with zero problems. I run Vertical grips on both as well as lights and Eotechs. So far my zero hasn't changed.

I was about to say the same thing...unless he's shooting his AK upside down....

so how hard is it to zero without a co-witness? just out of curiosity?

I use an Aimpoint and you can co-witness it with an UltiMAK mount.

I really like UltiMAK mounts.

Full disclosure, Lyle, the owner of UltiMAK, is a close associate of mine.

Ultimak works awesome with an AK, I have one on my AMD system and it really does and excellent job all around.

Thats nice to know. I may have to try an Ultimak on my short barrelled Mak. Thanks for the pics.

I have the Ultimak top rail and the Kreb's Custom fore end rail system for the bottom.  Sorry I don't have a photo but it works together nicely.  Last time I looked they took it off their web page but it you can get it, its a good system.
