Another possible alternative might be to register the receiver as a short barreled rifle with the BATFE. It will cost you $200 for the tax stamp however under current regulations the NFA status should make compliance parts unnecessary according to an ATF letter. According to this interpretation the rifle's SBR configuration makes it "unsporting" and exempt from the the import requirements (i.e. compliance parts). I don't have a link to the BATF letter from the mid 1990's that dealt with the issue so you will want to do some google searches to make sure this is still the case before proceeding.  The down side to this idea is that you would have to modify military (full auto) components from a kit to fit the semi-auto receiver and insure semi-auto only fire. The completed single stack rifles being imported with the thumbhole stocks have what appear to be original military trigger parts with the full auto bits ground off.

thanks for the info . I already have a registered yugo krink. thats all fine and good but it takes for ever to gat the paperwork through the system and the muzzle extension wouldn't have to be but roughly .75" compliance parts would be a nice thing to be able to buy.  R1150R

I beleive Ohio Ordnance Works makes compliance parts for the VZ58.  They have a semi-auto kit that includes a receiver, you might want to call them and see if you can just get the parts you need.
