Not to be a wuss or anything, but is there a recoil pad made for an underfolder stock? I've got a Vector Polish Underfolder up for sale in the EE, but before it goes, I was just wondering if there was a recoil pad that would slip onto the stock? |
| I'm looking at my SAS-M7 as I write this. I've never seen one, but I actually saw a guy at the range who had rigged up something that looked half way descent. You know that tubular-shaped grey foam with the slit running down it that people use to wrap around outdoor pipes for insulation? He used something like that, then wrapped black electrical tape around it. Personally, I think you shouldn't waste your time or money. Just add a muzzle brake to the gun. |

You are talking about the buttstock recoil pad right? Not wrapping the length of the underfolder for a cheek weld. Krinkov recoil pad from RPB $15.00

K-var has one for $25 that has slots specifically for the underfolder. Slides in and out reasonably easy, but can't fold it fully with a mag inserted. The one K-var sells was made for when shooting rifle grenades, bur works fine for regular shooting as well. www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16306&cat=0&page=1 |
| With the recoil pad my Polish underfolder is pleasant to shoot. Those recoil pads will work for underfolders and triangle side folders. On the underfolder it will go in the grooves and with a triangle side folder it slips on. My recoil pad are imitations made by a US company (forget who) but they work great. |

I have an Arsenal SAS M-7 underfolder. Prior to buying, I read horror stories about people buying them and then selling them when they couldn't stand it. I was most pleasantly suprised after using it. The cheek weld is fine, and I keep my nose to the take down lever. Feels fine on the shoulder too, with the nice wide footprint. I wouldn't really be interested in a recoild pad, as the AK has negligible recoil and I wouldn't want to increase the length of pull. |

Me 2..... I never had any probs with my SAS M-7 either. But could see where a really skinny guy might since there's less fat and beef on the upper chest and shoulder. I'd still rather add a AK-74 style brake if I wanted to reduce recoil, rather than add a pad, but to each his own. Comfort to one, is discomfort to another. Just look at all the replies to the AK vs AR thread on Ergonomics.

+2. My Polish underfolder really doesn't bother me that much. It is not my SHTF rifle and I don't shoot it a whole lot, but when I do it ain't that bad. BTW, all muzzle brakes on any rifle 308 and under suck, period. I hate muzzle brakes. No one in a free state should have one if it ain't on a 50 cal. Damnit, muzzle brakes freaking suck!!!! I am so glad the ban ended so I could get those POSs off of my rifles. |
My stock pad arrived today. It seems to be a great product, it slips onto both side folding and underfolder AK's. It fits onto the underfolder very tightly and securely. And even the slight amount of weight helps to balance the rifle back towards the rear of the rifle some. But all this being said, the stock won't underfold with the pad mounted. So, what's the point? I have no idea. |
| I placed an order with RPB on the 14th and it arrived today on the 16th from Georgia to Arizona. I chose the cheapest shipping option for a couple of parts that could have gone in a flat rate envelope and it arrived by USPS priority. I'd buy from them again with service like that. |
Nope. You're a wuss. There isn't any noticeable recoil with an AK. Why would you need a pad? I have to think this is a technique thing. I'm not trying to be a samrt ass or anything but go shoot a few rounds of skeet or something and get tough. |
FWIW, the one like that I got from them will also fit on most fixed stocks. ![]() The folder did lock forward in this picture.
