This is the first build by my brother and myself. He did the lions share, receiver install and rivet work, I was the stock set and receiver finisher. It is a Romy kit on an AK USA receiver, Tapco FCG. I think he did a great rivet job and everything fits great...

That looks beautuful! It's all nice and clean. It is almost a shame to have to mess it up with gun powder and wear and tear of shooting

I tried a couple of the expensive finishes on other old rifles without much luck and a lot of expence. So this AK project I used one that worked years ago. Plain old cheapo black header paint from NAPA, for the receiver and all black parts. I applied 3 light coats, then baked in the oven at 250 for 30 min. The stocks I used paint remover, then baked them to remove the 30 year old cosmo. After that I sanded(220and320 grit) and the natural color came through. I then sprayed 3 light coats od Deft (Walmart) clear wood finish (semi gloss) and there you have it. So Walmart and NAPA get the free advertising, but I did not spend over $20 for enough product to do several rifles.

Excellent rivet work for a homebuild.  I'm damn impressed.

For header paint that looks ALOT like parkerizing.  I'm thinking a parked Romy G build wouldn't be a bad idea to keep for myself...

EDIT:  Great job on the wood too, you did well enough that its hard to tell that handguard once had a big knobby pistol grip on it.  It looks like that was the original shape of the handguard, and I know how hard that is to accomplish.

Excellant work!!!!  And great job on the pictures, too.  That header paint looks really good.  Going to have to remember that.

Thanks for all of the comments, and especially from you Duke-Nukem, as I know how many you have done and you also know how much work it takes to make one come out like this. I will never part with it knowing it was built by my brother and myself, and it is our first. He fired it before I got  to do my work and as no surprise it fired flawlessly. The mags fit perferct with no wobble. The more I look at it the more I like it. But I am a little partial..
