We had one in the shop awhile back, and I was darn impressed.  Nicest Century product I've seen in years.  Nicely parkerized, not the usual WASR-10 scratched-up-spraypaint finish.  Wood was a bit raw but you can always refinish that, it wasn't dinged or gouged or anything.

I'm thinking of picking one up for my personal collection.

I was lucky enough to get the last M-72 kit from Southern Ohio Gun back in December, I haven't had it refinished yet, I kinda like it they way it is. I can tell you honestly that it  shoots real good

That's exactly the one I'm talking about.  The AES-10 isn't an RPK at all.  You meant the Yugo M72 like this:

Obviously, its still a Century product, but they are built on NDS receivers and parkerized nicely.  We got ours from SOG along with a bunch of other stuff.

Now, the AES-10B model, with emphasis on the "B", is going to be interesting.  We haven't gotten one yet but its more of a traditional RPK than the old AES-10, I'm thinking about getting one into the shop just to see what they look like.  So far it looks like they used actual RPK kits, and I'm wondering about details like receiver and whether its a US (non-chome) barrel.

I sure do, I thought you were going to get one right after I got mine?

You better hurry up, they are a lot of fun to shoot

yup...looks like that...but it has a finned barrel under the gas tube

i read the aes-10s are simply long barreled romy aks with a bipod

i just got an nhm91 but i wanted something a little beefier and the yugo looks the way to go

The Yugo is quite beefy, its super heavy.  If you don't want to spend the money on ammo to shoot it you could always use it as a barbell when you exercise.  And yes, the one I linked to has the cooling fins behind the gas block.  Its just difficult to see them with the weenie stock photo.  Here's a better one:

Get a parts kit from ORF before they dry up.  Send it to a reputable builder to turn it into a complete gun built to your specs.

I don't believe anyone is offering a complete RPK-74 unless ORF has some on hand still.

I was looking around and Vector's website shows an rpk74....not sure if they have any but it's worth a try.  Are they any good?
