How many parts will a 100% made in USA magazine count for?
5/15/2007 12:03:45 AM EDT
[#1]
3 parts.  But any magazine you insert in the rifle which needs the compliance parts will need to be a 3 parts US mag.

The MAK-90 you have will require 5 US compliance parts minimum to be legal with the thumbhole stock replaced with a regular stock and pistol grip.  6 US compliance parts if you have a threaded barrel with a removable muzzle device.

What counts as US compliance parts in an AK?

The 16 countable parts of an AK rifle. No more than 10 of these parts may be imported.

(1) Receiver
(2) Barrel
(3) Trunnion
(4) Muzzle attachments(flash hiders, brakes, barrel extensions, barrel nuts)
(5) Bolt
(6) Bolt carrier
(7) Gas piston
(8) Trigger
(9) Hammer
(10) Disconnecter
(11) Buttstock
(12) Pistol grip
(13) Forearm handguards
(14) Magazine body
(15) Follower
(16) Floorplate

On a typical stamped receiver rifle you need to replace 5 parts with no muzzle attachment and 6 parts with a muzzle attachment.

On a typical milled recevier rifle you need to replace 4 parts with no muzzle attachment and 5 parts with a muzzle attachment, because there isn't a barrel trunion, it is part of the receiver.

Where can I get 3 part US mags for my AK?
5/16/2007 5:02:36 AM EDT
[#4]
www.tapco.com but they are plastic mags.  I tend to just replace the followers in my steel mags for ~$3 from Tapco.

www.copesdist.com/ak47.htm has some by promag, but again plastic

I've never seen steel US mags...
cant find a source for US floorplates, or I would probably replace those as well...
